Mark Inch

Mark Sherwin Inch is a retired U.S. Army major general and veteran correctional leader who served as the 9th Director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons (2017–2018) during the first Trump Administration, and later as Secretary of the Florida Department of Corrections (2019–2021) under Governor Ron DeSantis. He is one of the few people to have led both a state and the federal prison system. Inch is a recipient of the American Correctional Association's E.R. Cass Award for lifetime contributions to the corrections profession.

Inch spent 35 years in the U.S. Army (1982–2017), rising to Provost Marshal General and commanding the U.S. Army Corrections Command, the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks, and the U.S. Army Military Police School, among other posts. He served in Operation Continue Hope in Somalia, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. His military honors include the Army Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, three Legion of Merit awards, and the Bronze Star Medal.

Inch holds a B.A. in Biblical Archaeology from Wheaton College, a Master's degree in Geography from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Master's of Military Art and Science degree in Strategic Operations from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College
